Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State

State governors in Nigeria should emulate the Bayelsa state governor, who has controlled the Fulani herdsmen’s attacks on the people of Bayelsa state and their farms.

The Viewers Corner News team applauds the Bayelsa state governor on how he is handling the insecurity in Bayelsa state. Based on our findings, Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State has issued directives against those Fulani herdsmen who are using their cows to destroy people’s farms. He asked them to tread carefully in Bayelsa State because such an act of irresponsibility would not be tolerated. He also made it clear that there should be no open grazing in Bayelsa State; instead, he suggested ranching as an alternative. In Bayelsa state, not many troubling issues are happening at the moment because the governor has issued strict guidelines concerning how things should be done in the state. So we are calling on all the governors in Nigeria to use their powers as state governors to change how things should be done in their various states concerning these Fulani herdsmen, who are using their cows to destroy people’s farms, by letting them know that the state can no longer tolerate such an act of impunity and rascality. Every governor in Nigeria has the right to control and put an end to all troubling issues happening in their various states; doing so would reduce the rate at which the Fulani herdsmen attack and kill Nigerians across the country. Look at Plateau State in Nigeria: over 50 people were recently killed by the Fulani herdsmen, and most people in Nigeria, especially from the northern part of the country, are not condemning such brutal attacks. But look at the killings of the Fulani herdsmen in Edo State, which happened not too long ago, the Fulani people are calling for war in Edo State, but their people are busy killing other Nigerians with impunity on a daily basis, which is bad. Again, Nigerians should not sit back and watch the Fulani herdsmen kill them just like that without putting up a fight to defend themselves, which should have been the job of the government of Nigeria, both at the state and federal levels. Honestly, things are getting messy in Nigeria, and there are no signs of such an ugly situation ending soon. Hence, we are calling on the government of Nigeria at all levels to look into this troubling issue and put an end to it.
