Mr. Julius Malema of the Freedom Fighters political party in South Africa has been jailed for seven years, including other fines.
Information reaching Viewers Corner News from our correspondent in Johannesburg, South Africa, revealed that Mr. Julius Malema, who is a strong Pan-African figure, has been sentenced to serve a seven-year jail term, along with other monetary fines. The surprising aspect of this case is that Mr. Julius Malema, who is the Chairperson of the Freedom Fighters political party, allegedly used a gun and shot directly into the sky while celebrating the anniversary of his political party, which formed one of the charges against him.
Perhaps the gun used was not licensed, or there may be other underlying reasons, including attempts to silence him because he has been outspoken about past injustices committed by white South Africans.
Our point here is this: some time ago, a South African Paralympic star, Oscar Pistorius, killed his girlfriend with a gun and was sentenced to five years in prison, along with other related penalties. However, Mr. Julius Malema, who did not kill anyone but was reportedly celebrating his party’s anniversary by shooting into the sky, has been sentenced to seven years in prison, including additional monetary fines following his conviction.
This development is quite surprising to hear.
