The recent killings of the Fulani people, who were believed to be traveling from Port-Harcourt to their home state for a Muslim holiday by some individuals in Edo state, precisely in Uromi, according to a Viewers Corner News correspondent in Benin City, has received condemnation from Nigerians. No matter the alleged offence, no human being has the right to terminate another person’s life because you are not the creator of that life you just terminated. So the Viewers Corner News team joined Nigerians both at home and abroad in condemning such a brutal attack against the Fulani people in Edo state. Somehow, most things that happened are for a reason and those to be blamed for the insecurity in Nigeria should be the government of the country. The government of Nigeria is not doing enough to end the insecurity going on in the country which is so sad. We have also seen how some Fulani herdsmen would go into people’s farms with their cows and pull everything down. Even some Nigerians were killed in the process and women were allegedly raped by these Fulani herdsmen without the government of Nigeria doing anything to stop them. These Fulani herdsmen are carrying different weapons around the country without the government stopping them, which should not have been so. Again, we are appealing to the government of Nigeria to have a law that would mandate cattle owners across Nigeria to go into ranching because the problem Nigerians are having with the Fulani herdsmen is a result of moving their cows across the country which is causing severe damages to the livelihood of the people of Nigeria. When Nigerians decide to speak out, the Fulani herdsmen would react negatively to them. We also believe that, if a place is made available to the Fulani herdsmen in Nigeria for ranching, the killings of innocent Nigerians and the destruction of farms across the country would be reduced or eradicated.
