Reports indicate that about 600 women, children and elderly people may have been abducted during an attack on a mosque in the state. However, authorities are still working to establish the exact number of people missing.
A local official also said 30 people were killed during the attack and later buried.
Tinubu has directed security chiefs to provide regular updates on efforts to rescue the victims and account for everyone taken.

The situation is further complicated by the region’s proximity to international borders. Reports indicate that about 2,000 residents fled into neighbouring Benin Republic after the attack, highlighting the fear now spreading through affected communities.
