Information Viewers Corner News team gathered recently from our source in Abuja (Nigeria) revealed that some state governors in Nigeria have refused completely to organize local government elections in their various states for selfish reasons because they want to have all the proceeds from the local governments into the state government accounts thereby making the local government ineffective. Right now, some governors have made the local government in their states as their own cash-cow which is wrong. The action of those governors who refused to organize local government elections told us only but one thing which is corruption and manipulations to enable the governors and their associates in crime to enrich themselves but then, those governors failed to understand that if the local government is given the privilege to run its own affairs, it would bring development to the local government and the state in general.This attitude from the governors in Nigeria brings us to this question, when would corruption and manipulations end in Nigeria? However the recent statement made by the House speaker, Yakubu Dogara if taken seriously would be a good move towards achieving that objective in various local governments across Nigeria. We (Viewers Corner News team) pray and hope it works out nicely because the House speaker Yakubu Dogara is one man that has credibility problem and until his actions are proven otherwise, what majority of Nigerians both home and abroad hold against him still remains. Again governors in various states of the country (Nigeria) who are using the local governments in their states as cash-cow thereby refusing to organize the local government elections should stop now and start doing the right thing so as to make the local government in their states effective. This would bring development to the local government if elections are conducted nicely and all the necessary tools to carry out duties successfully are put in place.
