Without missing words, the federal government of Nigeria has failed completely in handling insecurity across the country. Things have become worse. Killings of innocent people in Nigeria are rampant in the country. No part of Nigeria right now is safe. Terrorists and other bandits have taken over the country. Recently, a video surfaced showing people killed in Benue state, which is so sad. It was also revealed how the governor of Enugu state got information that some gunmen were coming to attack a community in his state, which prompted him to put a call across to President Buhari and those in positions of authority who would have assisted in blocking the attack before it could be carried out. After waiting for a very long time, no help was rendered and by the time help could come, the attackers had already carried out their terrible mission, destroying lives and properties as alleged. This is a country with a functional government in place but is unable to help when in distress. Our point here is that APC/president Buhari’s led government has failed completely to protect the people of Nigeria who brought them to power, which is bad. Another surprising aspect of APC/president Buhari’s led government is the way and manner they are handling issues. According to our findings, which many Nigerians are aware of, if an offence is committed by a certain group of individuals who are in the government’s good books for whatever reason capable of bringing them to face the law, the government will not punish them; however, if the same offense is committed by others, the federal government of Nigeria will not take it lightly with such group of people. Look at the happenings in the northern part of Nigeria where some people have been visiting the terrorists in the bush to negotiate with them. They are even saying that the terrorists should not be called names, but if such visits were made by some groups in the southern part of Nigeria, it would be a different approach which is not fair. The laws of Nigeria are for all Nigerians irrespective of status or tribe, which should always be applied when the need arises. The federal government of Nigeria should learn to treat everyone equally according to the laws of the land. This is one of the ways the people of Nigeria can begin to build trust again in the government. Viewers Corner News team would also use this opportunity to plead with APC/president Buhari’s led government to understand that if the security challenges Nigeria is facing right now are not properly handled, the economy of the country will continue to suffer a setback. Again, no investor in his or her right mind would want to invest in a troubled country like Nigeria, which is the hard truth that the APC/President Buhari-led government must learn to accept.
