Virgin Atlantic announced that it has ordered for twelve wide-bodied Airbus A350-1000 jets worth $4.4 billion (3.9 billion euros). The announcement was made on Monday at the Farnborough Airshow by Craig Kreeger (Virgin Atlantic chief executive). He also stated that the airline would buy eight Airbus A350-1000 jets for deliveries starting in 2019 and four new aircraft on long-term leases from ALC (leasing firm) from 2020.
Airbus A350-1000 carries more than 300 passengers. The founder of Virgin Atlantic is Richard Branson and the airline currently has ten A330s and 11 A340s in its fleet.
