THE WELFARE OF THE PEOPLE OF YOUR STATE SHOULD BE YOUR NUMBER ONE PRIORITY AS A GOVERNOR WHICH IS THE ESSENCE OF DEMOCRACY. PUT THE PEOPLE FIRST BEFORE ANY PROJECT.

Some Nigerian governors said that they were not elected only to pay workers salaries and pensioners allowances. Based on this statement, we can easily tell why they are failing in government as leaders. As a governor of a state, the welfare of the people of your state should be your number one priority before ever starting up any project in the state because inside the monthly allocation the federal government of Nigeria is paying your state, workers salaries and pensioners allowances are included which should NEVER EVER be used to execute any project except for the purpose of salaries and pensions. Having done that, the rest money can be used for infrastructures which would also benefit the people of your state. Again, the reason governors are not doing well in their various states is corruption, stealing more than required. The second point is lack of management skills, putting states money into projects that would not be beneficial to the people of their states. Governors in Nigeria need tutorial on this subject to see if they can change for good. If you take a look at states in Nigeria, almost all the governors have borrowed huge amount of money to finance projects as they claimed without any project being executed. Most governors create fake projects so that they can steal money, this is where the problem is. Look at ex-governor Orji Uzo Kalu of Abia state who was recently convicted of over seven billion Naira fraud. Salaries of workers and pensioners allowances in Abia state during his tenure as governor was not paid properly, this is Abia state’s money. Assuming such huge sum of money was invested into Abia state, it would go a long way in uplifting people from poverty and now in the same Abia state (Nigeria), ex-governor Theodore Orji is being accused of stealing over 27 billion Naira state money. Just look at what such huge amount of money would do for Abia state if it was invested in the state but these ex-governors chose to steal them, leaving the people of Abia state in abject poverty. This attitude is common with almost all the governors in Nigeria. Look at governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state (Nigeria), since he came to office the federal government of Nigeria has given Kogi state billions upon billions of Naira to put things right in the state, still if you go there, very little or nothing so impressive would be found and some Nigerians without adequate information or knowledge on issues of politics and management are still supporting him (governor Yahaya Bello) than telling him the truth which is bad. However, no matter the project you intend to execute in your state, let workers salaries and pensioners allowances be your first assignment, doing so would make you a great leader who takes care of the people of his state nicely. We (Viewers Corner News team) are appealing to governors in Nigeria to abide by these principles of making sure that workers salaries and pensioners allowances are paid properly.
