President Buhari’s government has refused to obey court orders and this attitude may hurt All Progressives Congress (APC) as a political party come 2023. Majority of Nigerians both home and abroad may use such unaccepted attitude against All Progressives Congress (APC) during the general elections. If you look at Nigeria’s last election, some states which All Progressives Congress (APC) would have won without campaigning much have fallen into the hands of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) because of what Nigerians hold against All Progressives Congress (APC) which is not a good sign for a political party that would want to retain power come 2023. Nigeria is not under a military government, meaning that the voice of the people should always be considered when any issue is raised. Look at Mr Sambo Dasuki who has be held since 2015 which the law court in Nigeria has ordered President Buhari’s government to release but up till today, the man is still in custody without trial which is very bad. This can only happen in a military government not a democratic government. During ex-president Goodluck Jonathan’s era, it was alleged that he signed freedom of information bill which President Buhari’s government is trying to undermine and this is not good at all. Based on this, we (Viewers Corner News team) are appealing to President Buhari and his government to release those political detainees in the custody or charge them to court. Again, their rights as free citizens of Nigeria are being denied which democracy is highly against. President Buhari, please release Mr Sambo Dasuki and other political detainees your government is holding till date. This attitude is not what a democratic country like Nigeria should practice. Freedom of the press and that of the citizens of every country is part of the power house of a democratic system. Please abide by these principles if you want Nigeria’s democracy to achieve her objectives.
