It was revealed to Viewers Corner News through our correspondent in Enugu (Nigeria) that some members of Anambra state house of assembly (Nigeria) have spoken against the introduction of a hate speech bill which has passed through various readings in the national assembly of the country (Nigeria). However, those in favour of such terrible bill should have a rethink because it is against what democracy teaches and we (Viewers Corner News team) would also use this opportunity to inform those Nigerian lawmakers in favour of this bill (hate speech bill) that Article 19 of the universal declaration of human rights agreed upon, signed and sealed in 1948 by Nigeria provides that everyone have right to freedom of opinion and expression. Therefore, we (Viewers Corner News team) are appealing to the lawmakers in Nigeria to kindly respect and obey this act. We (Viewers Corner News team) have written articles in the past concerning this topic and we are doing so again because the welfare and freedom of everyone in Nigeria should be uphold. If it happens that the hate speech bill gets its way to the presidency for approval, we (Viewers Corner News team) sincerely plead that president Buhari should turn it down. Such bill (hate speech bill) if signed into law assuming, would be very dangerous for a democratic country like Nigeria. Again anyone who feels that his or her right has been violated through hate speech or otherwise should take his or her case to a law court rather than passing a law which carrys death penalty on such issue. It is very wrong, the death sentence for such offence if it becomes law will be too harsh. If those Nigerians who looted billions of Naira thereby putting the people of the country (Nigeria) into economic hardship which brought poverty to them and later died from such problems did not get death sentence, why would hate speech attract death? Though hate speech is bad and should never be encouraged at all but to place death sentence on it is absolutely wrong and should not be allowed.

THOSE MEMBERS OF ANAMBRA STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY IN NIGERIA WHO REJECTED THE HATE SPEECH BILL SHOULD BE COMMENDED. THEY DID WELL AND SHOULD BE REGARDED AS INDIVIDUALS WITH FORESIGHT.
