The governor of Benue State in Nigeria, who is a Catholic Reverend Father, is not handling the issues of insecurity in the state properly.

The people of Benue State in Nigeria had high hopes when a governor believed to be a Catholic reverend father was elected to lead the state. One major reason for electing him was that, as a man of God, they expected him to pay more attention to the lives of the people of Benue State by going all out to protect them from killer herdsmen and other bandits terrorizing the state. But today politics has taken over his God-given wisdom. Another surprising aspect was when the Benue state governor allegedly refused Mr Peter Obi of the Labour Party from visiting those displaced people of Benue state who are in IDP camps in the state. Mr Peter Obi has been visiting IDP camps across Nigeria, making donations and giving emotional support to them, which is nice. So for the governor of Benue State allegedly refusing him to go to the IDP camp, it is so surprising. Again, the killings of innocent people of Benue State, including others across Nigeria, need urgent attention from the federal government of Nigeria. In our opinion, if the federal government of Nigeria and the state government cannot protect the people of Benue State, then it becomes necessary for the people of Benue State to start protecting themselves with whatever weapon they have in their possession. We also believe that no one would be happy to see his relatives being murdered like animals and not react negatively. Hence, we are calling on the government of Nigeria to have these issues addressed so that the people of Benue State can have peace.
