Professor Mojisola Adeyeye

The GMO food program which has been rejected by so many countries in the world should be regarded as a bad business for those who invented it. Which means, create the sickness and sell the cure.

African countries, especially Nigeria, must tread carefully with the GMO food program because those who developed it do not mean well for humanity. We heard Professor Mojisola Adeyeye (Director general of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control) said that GMO food is safe for human consumption. Our response is simple: she needs to conduct proper, independent research before promoting GMO foods as safe. We strongly believe her claims are wrong.

The long-term consumption of GMO foods can have dangerous health effects. This is why so many countries across the world have already banned them. Beyond health concerns, GMO crops pose another problem: farmers may not be able to replant the seeds, leaving entire food systems under the control of the corporations that manufacture them. Whoever controls your seeds, ultimately controls your food system.

For these reasons, we join other nations in saying no to GMO foods. This warning is particularly important for Nigeria and other African countries that may be considering adopting this laboratory-grown system. Africa has vast, fertile land capable of producing organic food that is both healthy and sustainable.

The choice is clear: if you value your health and long-term independence, reject GMO foods and invest in organic, homegrown solutions.
