THE 42 YEAR OLD ABIYE AHMED HAS BEEN ELECTED AS THE NEW PRIME MINISTER OF ETHIOPIA. CONGRATULATIONS.

The Ethiopia parliament was on Monday elected Abiye Ahmed (42 years) as the new Prime Minister of Ethiopia. He succeeds the outgoing prime minister (Haileamariam Dessalegn) who resigned from his post in February 2018 after series of violent protests which claimed lives of several people in the country. Abiye Ahmed was a former Lieutenant Colonel in the army and former Ethiopia’s minister of Science and Technology. He is from Oromo ethnic group (the largest ethnic group in Ethiopia). He will be the country’s third prime minister since the Ethiopia’s military junta “Dergue” (the Coordinating Committee of the Armed Forces, Police and Territorial Army) was overthown in 1991.
