Shoko Asahara, the 63 year old founder of Aum Shinrikyo cult (Supreme Truth) in the mid-1980s was on Friday, 6 July 2018 executed alongside six other cult members at a Tokyo detention house. On 20 March 1995, Aum Shinrikyo cult members carried out a deadly chemical attack (Sarin gas attack) on the Tokyo subway which killed 13 people and made 6,000 others sick. The Sarin gas attack was Japan’s worst terror attack and his (Shoko Asahara) followers were also accused of several other murders in the country. Shoko Asahara, (half-blind with a shaggy hair and beard) was born Chizuo Matsumoto in 1955. His cult “Aum Shinrikyo” attracted many young people disillusioned with the modern materialistic way of life. The cult (Aum Shinrikyo) believed that the world was coming to an end and non-members would go to hell unless they were killed by Aum Shinrikyo members.
