Sanna Marin, the 34 year old former Finland’s transportation minister has been selected as the country’s prime minister. Sanna Marin, a member of the Social Democrat party was selected on 8 December 2019 after the former prime minister (Antii Rinne) resigned last week just six months on the job, following controversy over his handling of a postal workers’ strike. Sanna Marin will be the youngest leader to ever hold the post in Finland and also the world’s youngest sitting prime minister. Social Democratic Party is the largest in Finland’s five-member ruling coalition. The other four political parties are also led by women, Li Anderson (32 years) from Left Alliance, Maria Ohisalo (34 years) from Green League, Katri Kulmuni (32 years) from Centre party and Anna-Maja Henriksson (55 years) from Swedish People’s party.
