The sanctions placed on Russia has been extended to another six months by the European Union. The decision which came on Monday, December 19 is to continue pressure on Russia to respect peace agreement in Ukraine. Viewers Corner News correspondent learned that EU leaders endorsed the sanctions against Russia in last week summit. This means restrictive measures targeting Russia’s financial, energy and defense sectors, as well as goods that can be used for both civilian and military purposes will continue until may be July 31, 2017. The European Union imposed sanctions against Russia over Russia’s annexation of the Crimean Peninsula and Russia backed separatists in eastern Ukraine.
