Rising Killings in Nigeria as Political Focus Shifts to 2027 Election

Nigerians are reportedly being killed in their hundreds, if not thousands, on a weekly basis while critics say the government led by the All Progressives Congress and President Bola Tinubu appears to be looking the other way.

Some observers believe that what matters most to the All Progressives Congress and President Bola Tinubu’s government is how they will secure victory in the upcoming presidential election. According to critics, even if Nigerians are dying in large numbers on a weekly basis, it does not appear to receive the level of attention many people believe it deserves.

It is also alleged that some individuals have been paid to campaign in support of the All Progressives Congress and President Bola Tinubu, and they are currently attempting to defend the political party in the public space. These supporters reportedly believe that Nigerians will eventually accept their appeal to vote again for the All Progressives Congress and President Bola Tinubu in the presidential election scheduled for 2027.

However, some Nigerians are saying that what they believe happened during the 2023 election will not repeat itself again. Critics claim that President Bola Tinubu did not win the 2023 presidential election and allege that the outcome was influenced through the involvement of the Independent National Electoral Commission and the support of certain judges who ruled in his favour.

Since President Bola Tinubu assumed office, many Nigerians say the economic hardship in the country has worsened and insecurity has increased. As a result, a number of citizens say they are not finding life easy and have vowed to vote the All Progressives Congress and President Bola Tinubu’s government out of office in the 2027 election.
