Paul Biya of Cameroon

President Paul Biya, the newly elected leader of Cameroon, was again rigged into office according to election observers. He has absolutely no business being in office.

Cameroon is in flames at the moment because President Paul Biya, who has been in power for so many years, has once again rigged himself into office. This is a man who can hardly remember where he is at any given time due to old age and his health conditions. So how can such a leader effectively direct the affairs of Cameroon?

It is unfortunate that the African Union and some Western countries continue to back these corrupt African leaders who have absolutely nothing to offer the people of their nations. Yet, the moment a military leader takes over power, the African Union and the West quickly condemn it — not because they care about democracy, but because they know military governments are harder to manipulate and won’t allow them to loot the resources of those countries.

Because of this unfair handling of issues, African youths are now questioning the true value of democracy on the continent. The painful reality is that it is often only when the military takes power that African countries begin to benefit from their own natural resources. That’s the truth — take it or leave it.
