OMAR AL- BASHIR, SUDAN’S EX- PRESIDENT HAS BEEN CHARGED WITH CORRUPTION RELATED OFFENCES, APPEARED IN PUBLIC FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE APRIL.

Viewers Corner News correspondent in Khartoum learned that the former President of Sudan, Omar al-Bashir has been charged with corruption related offences on Sunday. Alaa al-Din Abdallah (the prosecutor) told the media that Bashir was charged with illicit possession of foreign currency and accepting gifts in an unofficial manner. This is the first time Omar al-Bashir appeared in public since April he was overthrown and detained after his 30-year autocratic rule in the country which was marked with violence, economic collapse and the secession of South Sudan. Last month, Omar al-Bashir was charged with incitement and involvement in the killing of protesters. Prosecutors also want Bashir questioned over suspected money laundering and financing of terrorism. Omar al-Bashir was overthrew and detained on April 11, 2019 after several weeks of street protests against his autocratic rule.
