NIKKO JENKINS WHO WAS CONVICTED OF FOUR COUNTS OF FIRST-DEGREE MURDER FOR KILLING FOUR PEOPLE IN 2013 HAS BEEN SENTENCED TO DEATH.

Nikko Jenkins is the first to be handed death sentence by Nebraska since the state’s voters reinstated death penalty in November 2016. Nikko Jenkins was sentenced to death by a three-judge panel for shooting to death four people in Omaha in August 2013. In addition to Jenkins death sentence, he was also sentenced to at least 450 years for a dozen weapons counts in his case. According to the court’s report, 11 days Jenkins was released from prison after spending 10 years for two carjackings, he shot dead two people (Juan Uribe-Pena and Jorge Cajiga-Ruizon) on August 11, 2013. Eight days later, Jenkins and his sister killed Curtis Bradford. Then on August 21, 2013, he shot Andrea Kruger four times and drove away with her SUV.
In 2015, 
Nebraska lawmakers abolished death sentence but death penalty supporters rejected the move through a statewide ballot campaign which prevented the law from being effective pending when voters decided whether to overturn the Legislature’s decision or not. Last year November, the voters decided to reinstate the capital punishment with about 61 percent votesRobert Williams who died in the state’s electric chair for killing two women in 1977 was the last execution which was carried out by Nebraska in 1997.
