Nigeria Cannot Get It Right Under Its Current Corrupt and Deceitful Leadership

Nigeria as a country cannot get it right with the current corrupt and deceitful leaders directing its affairs.

These elderly leaders, who many Nigerians believe have nothing meaningful to offer the people, have become a major problem for the nation. Instead of fixing the economy so it can work better for everyone, they are reportedly spending millions of dollars to hire a United States firm for image and damage control. Many Nigerians believe this may have influenced reports by the New York Times that downplayed or misrepresented the genocide happening in Nigeria.

Based on this, we are calling on the New York Times to be guided. It is better to report news correctly based on facts or remain silent on issues that are not properly understood. Nigeria is not a place where assumptions should replace truth.

Since the United States reportedly bombed a terrorist camp in Sokoto State, terrorists and their sponsors have been under pressure and reportedly on the run. However, because there were no sustained follow up operations, these groups have resumed their attacks.

Recently, terrorists reportedly attacked a church in northern Nigeria during a worship service, kidnapping more than one hundred and fifty Christians. Killings of Christians continue daily in parts of northern Nigeria, according to reports and eyewitness accounts.

Because of this, we appeal to President Donald Trump to intensify action against terrorist groups operating in Nigeria. These groups only respond to consistent pressure. When they are attacked once and left alone afterward, they regroup and continue their violence against innocent people.

The Nigerian military, under its newly appointed leader, General Christopher Musa, is trying its best to contain the situation. However, many Nigerians believe that the military still needs strong support from the United States to completely end terrorism in the country.

Nigeria’s crisis cannot be solved with public relations or foreign damage control campaigns. The country needs honest leadership, decisive action, and sustained security efforts. As long as corruption and deception remain at the center of governance, peace will remain elusive. The lives of innocent Nigerians matter, and ending terrorism will require truth, accountability, and consistent international support.
