Nigeria’s 2027 presidential election should not be based on sentiment or any form of bias if Nigerians truly want the country to grow and move to the next level.

For many years, Nigeria’s presidential elections have been influenced by ethnicity and religion. This has also been one of the reasons Nigeria as a country has struggled to move forward. It has created a situation where individuals who may not be fully qualified are chosen to lead the country simply because political leaders want every ethnic group to take a turn at the presidency, even when a candidate from such a region may not have the capacity to lead Nigeria effectively.

In our opinion, this approach is absolutely wrong. Progressive nations around the world always look for the best and most capable individuals, not the ethnic group they come from. A leader can come from any tribe in Nigeria. What Nigerians should focus on is ensuring that the person chosen to lead the country is qualified.

Such a leader should be able to carry all Nigerians along, create jobs for the people, build infrastructure across the country, and provide quality health care services for citizens. These are the qualities Nigerians should look for in a leader, rather than focusing on ethnicity or religion.

Hence we are appealing to all Nigerians to follow this path. Let a qualified leader be elected into office in 2027 to direct the affairs of Nigeria so that real progress can be made in the country.
