No matter how Nigerians think or feel about Mr. Omoyele Sowore, the founder of Sahara Reporters, one thing is certain, he is a fearless person who speaks his mind on any issue as he sees it. The Viewers Corner News team is convinced that Mr. Omoyele Sowore could someday become the president of Nigeria.
If Nigerians look closely at Mr. Omoyele Sowore’s activities, they will see that he has always been the voice of the oppressed, even when those oppressed people are not from his tribe which is admirable. Mr. Sowore always comes forward with facts and verifiable information on every topic he presents to the public, which gives credibility to his work.
Look at another protest he is planning to stage in Nigeria, asking the government to release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, who is not from his tribe. Yet, some Igbo leaders from Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s own tribe have remained silent on how to secure his release. The law courts in Nigeria have, on several occasions, ordered the government to free Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, but they have refused to obey. Now, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is reportedly sick and unable to get proper medical attention.
Since Mr. Omoyele Sowore is leading this call for his release, we hope the government of Nigeria will listen and act appropriately. We have seen bandits, armed with dangerous weapons, meeting and shaking hands with government officials, the same bandits who kill innocent Nigerians daily. What they have done is far worse than anything Mazi Nnamdi Kanu might have done.
It is time to let Mazi Nnamdi Kanu go. Keeping him in detention despite multiple court orders for his release is damaging Nigeria’s image before the international community. Once again, we say: let Mazi Nnamdi Kanu go now.
