MAARIK AL- TAWAIHA (JORDANIAN SOLDIER) SENTENCED TO LIFE IN PRISON FOR KILLING THREE UNITED STATES TRAINERS.

A Jordanian soldier, Maarik Al-Tawaiha was sentenced to life imprisonment on Monday, 17 July, 2017 by a court in Jordan for killing three U.S military trainers (Matthew Lewellen, Kevin McEnroe and James Moriarty) outside an army base last year. Viewers Corner News correspondent in Amman gathered that the 39-year-old Maarik al-Tawaiha was found guilty by a military court in Amman for shooting the three U.S trainers as they were waiting to enter the King Faisal base at Al-Jafr in southern Jordan on November 4, 2016. The relatives of the victims and the staff of U.S embassy were present at Monday hearing which took place under heavy security and Maarik Al-Tawaiha was sentenced to hard labour for life. The King Faisal air base in Jordan hosts trainers of various nationalities including Americans. Jordan is an American ally and a member of the US-led coalition fighting the Islamic State group in Syria and Iraq. About 2,200 American military personnel are in Jordan to provide training to Palestinian security forces, Iraqi, Yemeni and Libyan forces.
