Nnamdi Kanu

The world has condemned, in the strongest terms, Justice Omotosho’s conviction of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, describing it as judicial rascality and reckless abuse of the court.

Many Nigerians believe that if Mazi Nnamdi Kanu belonged to another ethnic group, he would likely not have been convicted. At worst, he may have received a lighter sentence. But because he is from the South-East region, those in power decided to silence him by giving him a life sentence.

It has also been reported in the public domain that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has been transferred to a prison in Sokoto, in northern Nigeria, where he is expected to serve his sentence. We want to remind Nigerians that even inside that prison, he will positively impact the lives of other inmates. He will open their eyes to the realities of life because leadership does not stop at the prison gates.

We also strongly believe that God’s ways are not the ways of man. What looks like a setback may be part of a bigger divine plan. There is also the possibility like we predicted earlier that President Bola Tinubu may eventually release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. Nigerians should watch closely as events unfold.

As for Justice Omotosho, who delivered the judgment many believe was dictated to him by powerful individuals, he has completely ruined his reputation as a judge. He has placed himself in the bad books of the world as someone who lacks judicial integrity. His name, and unfortunately the name of his family, has been dragged into the mud because he chose to deliver an unfair judgment instead of upholding justice.

Meanwhile, the real terrorists are freely parading themselves in the northern part of Nigeria with dangerous weapons. These are the people who should be arrested and jailed. But the government of Nigeria, alongside Justice Omotosho, has refused to act against them. Instead, they chose to jail a man whose major “crime” was speaking on radio. Labeling him a terrorist and sentencing him to life imprisonment is shocking and unjustifiable.

Justice Omotosho has made a mockery of Nigeria’s justice system, and his actions must be condemned by all who believe in fairness and truth.
