David Umahi

Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State, whose tenure of office will soon end, is requesting loan approval from the state House of Assembly.

Information reaching Viewers Corner News from our correspondent in Enugu (Nigeria) revealed that a few weeks before governor David Umahi leaves office, he is requesting loan approval worth billions of naira from the state House of Assembly. The good thing is that members of the state House of Assembly have rejected his request, as alleged. This also happens in almost all the states in Nigeria. Some of these outgoing governors who are seeking loan approvals in their states are those who brought in their political godson so they could control and impose them on their people as governors elect of their states. Governor David Umahi brought Francis Nwifuru to cover his evil records. These outgoing governors have stolen too much money from the treasury of their states, so the incoming governor, whom they want to impose on their people, would help to cover their tracks. The aggrieved political parties have taken their cases to the electoral tribunal because they believed that they won the governorship election, which the incumbent governors rigged. Our point is: despite all the debt owed by Ebonyi state government in Nigeria which is yet to be paid, still governor David Umahi wants to borrow more money. If governor David Umahi had received approval from the state House of Assembly over this loan issue, it would be extremely difficult for his successor to implement his own program. However, when a new leadership free of corruption is installed in Ebonyi State, Governor David Umahi will surely be called upon to give an account of how he spent the state money. The Viewers Corner News team is anxiously waiting for the day such judgment will come, and when it finally comes, it will deter other dubious governors in Nigeria from stealing public funds. The same also goes to the local government chairmen, who get huge sums of money as allocation on a monthly basis, but when you visit some local government areas in Nigeria, you would not find any development there. The money allocated to the local government has been pocketed by chairmen of the local government which is bad. A day of accountability shall come, where they will be called upon to explain how they used the money given to them to develop their communities. If proper reasons are not given, they would go to jail. We are watching and waiting to see it will turn out.
