France is facing energy problems because much uranium from Africa is not reaching them anymore.

France knows that its energy sector cannot function effectively without raw materials from Africa. Yet, for decades, France chose to treat African countries poorly, almost as if they were France’s property. The assumption seemed to be that African nations would never rise to challenge these injustices.

But today, the tide has turned in Africa’s favour. Reports suggest that France has had to shut down some of its nuclear power plants because the supply of uranium from Africa has been disrupted. That is no small matter, it underscores how dependent France truly is on resources from the continent it once marginalized.

We call on France to seek genuine reconciliation with the African nations it mistreated in the past. Only through humility and respect can France hope to regain access to the raw materials it needs to power its future. If it continues to ignore this reality, France’s energy crisis will only deepen and history will judge it harshly.
