It is no longer a secret that ex-president Goodluck Jonathan visited President Buhari recently in Aso Rock Villa, but what they discussed during their close door meeting remains confidential. The people of Nigeria have been speculating that President Buhari and some northern governors want ex-president Goodluck Jonathan to take over the leadership of Nigeria in 2023. Perhaps to complete his remaining one tenure of office, after which power would then return to the north in 2027. All these are mere speculations and political calculations coming from some Nigerians, which the Viewers Corner News team did not believe would become a reality. But then, in politics, anything is possible. In our opinion, the Viewers Corner News team does not see President Buhari handing over the leadership of Nigeria to ex-president Goodluck Jonathan. Therefore, we are appealing to the people of Nigeria to calm down. As we said in our previous article, the visit to Aso Rock Villa by ex-president Goodluck Jonathan may be on a different agenda and not the handing over of Nigeria to ex-president Goodluck Jonathan as the people of the country are speculating. Again ex-president Goodluck Jonathan did not lead Nigeria well when he was in power. Corruption was massive in his government which is still very fresh in the minds of the majority of the people of Nigeria both at home and abroad. President Buhari, including other Nigerians, are aware of that. In over 200 million people with leadership capabilities, ex-president Goodluck Jonathan should not be considered. Let other Nigerians come forward to take the mantle of leadership, certainly not ex-president Goodluck Jonathan. But if he decides to contest in 2023, the people of Nigeria may campaign against him. All Progressives Congress (APC) should push the candidacy of Professor Yemi Osinbajo, who is the vice president of Nigeria, to take over from President Buhari and leave ex-president Goodluck Jonathan alone. Again ex-president Goodluck Jonathan would be a project dead on arrival, which is the truth. Take it or leave it.
