No tyrant can stay in power forever; such a person will surely pay for his sins in due time. When ex-governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State was in office as governor, he did not treat the people of Ebonyi State well. Ex-governor David Umahi is a man who wants to be in control of everything at all times, which he has continued to do till today. Even at the federal level, where he serves as Minister of Works, the same issue has continued.
Ex-governor David Umahi seems to have forgotten that he cannot remain in office forever. Someday, he may be called upon to give an account of his past deeds, which we are sure will happen in the near future. A woman called Mrs. Tracy Ohiri, who in the past worked for ex-governor David Umahi when he was aspiring to be governor of Ebonyi State, is reportedly asking for money she claims he owes her. However, Mr. David Umahi has denied knowing or ever meeting the woman, which critics say is his usual way of handling such matters.
If Nigeria were a country where law and order fully worked, individuals like Mr. David Umahi would not be at the seat of power. But one thing we know for sure is this: every day is for the thief, and one day is for the owner of the house. Therefore, Mr. David Umahi should be guided and treat people nicely, because as human beings, we do not know what tomorrow has in store for us.
Again, let us all be guided. If Mr. Abubakar Malami, who was former President Buhari’s right-hand man, were to be in prison custody crying and begging for help, most people in Nigeria would not have believed it. The same applies to ex-governor El-Rufai of Kaduna State, who has also reportedly been detained in a prison facility.
This is a moral lesson that nothing is permanent in life.
