Dareen Tatour, 35 year old Arab-Israeli poet was on Tuesday, 31 July 2018 jailed for five months by an Israeli court (Nazareth Magistrate’s Court in northern Israel) for inciting terrorism online. According to the report, Dareen Tatour posted on Facebook and YouTube a video of herself reading out her poem “Resist, My People, Resist”, as a soundtrack to footage of masked Palestinian youths throwing stones and firebombs at Israeli soldiers.
She was arrested few days after her poem was published in October 2015. Tatour was also accused of supporting a terrorist organization (Palestinian militant group). Gaby Lasky (Tatour’s lawyer) said that Tatour would appeal both the verdict and the sentence.
