The All Progressives Congress has a long history of disobeying court orders in Nigeria, and Alhaji Bola Tinubu openly stated that he would continue from where former President Muhammadu Buhari stopped. Sadly, that is exactly what Nigerians are witnessing today. Another troubling development was when the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Alhaji Bola Tinubu the winner of the 2023 presidential election, despite widespread claims that he did not win. The political parties that challenged the election in court should have been allowed to conclude their cases before swearing Tinubu into office as the President of Nigeria.
Once he was sworn in and began appointing members of his cabinet, how could anyone realistically expect him to step down if the court later ruled against him? At that point, the Nigerian judiciary became practically helpless. It was clear that if the courts made any ruling that went against President Tinubu’s interests, there would be consequences. The corrupt judges of Nigeria were not prepared to take that risk. A clear example is the case of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, which the court dismissed, yet he remains in detention to this day.
Under the APC government, law and order in Nigeria have collapsed. Even worse, some Nigerians, especially from the South-West have already begun campaigning for President Tinubu’s re-election, despite the fact that his administration has damaged the Nigerian economy through reckless borrowing from the World Bank.
Our message is simple: the people of Nigeria must unite and put an end to tribalism. Only then can Nigerians have the chance to elect a competent leader capable of steering the country in the right direction. If Nigerians truly want progress, they must rise above ethnic loyalty and focus on leadership that can deliver development, justice, and stability.
