Tinubu

Alhaji Bola Tinubu, during his campaign years back, promised to widen the tax net. So why are Nigerians who elected him to office now complaining about tax increases?

We have written articles on this topic in the past, and we are doing so again. Most Nigerians go to campaign grounds just to catch fun instead of listening to and studying the campaign agendas of every presidential candidate. Nigerians also play tribal politics by voting for someone from their ethnic group, whether the person in question is qualified for the position or not, and in the end, they begin to complain.

Information reaching Viewers Corner News from our correspondent in Lagos, Nigeria, revealed that people from President Bola Tinubu’s ethnic group in Lagos have started protesting, saying that President Bola Tinubu’s new tax policy, which will begin in January 2026, will not be accepted because such a policy is going to create extreme poverty in Nigeria. They also said that if he fails to end this terrible tax policy which he is planning to impose on Nigerians, there will be problems in the country—worse than what happened in Nepal and Madagascar.

However, we want to remind the people of Nigeria that what President Bola Tinubu promised during his election campaign is exactly what he is executing, so Nigerians should bear with him. Again, another election is coming in 2027, when Nigerians will have the opportunity to choose another leader of their choice. So Nigerians, if the APC/President Bola Tinubu is not good for the country, then he can be voted out of office in 2027. The decision is yours to make. But for now, President Bola Tinubu and his government should be allowed to lead Nigeria as they promised during the 2023 election campaign.
