The All Progressives Congress wants to turn Nigeria’s democracy into a one-party system because of greed and the desire to control power. Somehow, we believe that no democratic system is bad as long as the system is transparent and its principles are followed correctly. But it is quite unfortunate that in Nigeria, democracy is regarded as a do-or-die affair.
We have seen the ruling political party in Nigeria making plans on how to take all the states in the country through manipulation. Honestly, democracy does not work like that; people should be allowed to make their choices freely. In Abia state, based on our findings, Governor Alex Oti is doing a great job and, without doubt, the people of Abia state are certainly going to re-elect him into office. But the problem here is the Independent National Electoral Commission of Nigeria, which is going to have the election results manipulated to favour the All Progressives Congress, the ruling political party in Nigeria.
So, the people of Abia state should do their homework properly by safeguarding their votes up to the point where the final results will be announced. If not, the Independent National Electoral Commission of Nigeria will do what they know how to do best. We also want to use this opportunity to call on Governor Alex Oti to devise a strategy to ensure that voters are not intimidated. As the governor of Abia state, you already have the support of your people, so we expect you to block all loopholes to ensure that voters in Abia state can cast their votes peacefully, without intimidation.
We believe that Governor Alex Oti can get the job done properly. The All Progressives Congress has no chance of winning the governorship election in Abia state because of the good works of Governor Alex Oti. This is the truth: take it or leave it.
