The Code of Conduct Tribunal’s decision to discharge Dr. Bukola Saraki of all counts in his false assets declaration trial despite all the strong evidences against him remain a mystery and a slap on the face of justice in the country (Nigeria). We (Viewers Corner News and the advisory team) have in the past written articles concerning this Bukola Saraki’s trial because such a trial would not have lasted this long if it were in a country where honesty and good governance is being practised, but in Nigeria it lasted more than two years before this unbelievable judgement was delivered by Danladi Umar and his code of conduct tribunal. Without being told, majority in Nigeria suspected right from the first day of Bukola Saraki’s trial that it will turn out to be this way which is too bad. Now this young man (Danladi Umar) would someday come out to vie for a political office in Nigeria and most probably may win too because majority of people in Nigeria are carried away easily when money is being spent on them which should not have been so. When we talk about corruption, both the young, old, poor and the rich ones in Nigeria are in this game together. They do not think of the future of the country (Nigeria) as long as the rich Nigerians are spending money on them which is why the rich ones in Nigeria and those in power are able to always find their ways even when the worst crime is committed by them because they know Nigerian system too well. Again what Danladi Umar and his tribunal (CCT) did is a dent on the justice system of Nigeria and should be condemned in the strongest term. Our (Viewers Corner News and the advisory team) point here is this, even if Bukola Saraki did not go to jail but with the evidence against him, it was more than enough to convict him and if that was done, an option of fine attached to it which we know he (Bukola Saraki) can easily pay without stress, then the credibility of Danladi Umar and his tribunal would have still remain intact as having given a fair judgement on the Bukola Saraki’s case, but for him (Danladi Umar) and his tribunal (CCT) to discharge Bukola Saraki on this false assets declaration case is something that may never go away so easily in the minds of majority of Nigerians both home and abroad. If we look at Nigeria today, those that stole peanuts are in jail while the big names that stole trillions of the country’s hard earned money are walking freely and still leading the country (Nigeria) which is bad. This should be a question which every Nigerian citizen both home and abroad should look into and perhaps find solution on how best to solve them so that the country (Nigeria) can move forward.
