The Central Bank of Nigeria has every right to carry out all necessary changes in the management of Nigeria’s currency in accordance with the law of Nigeria. The only approval needed should come from the president of Nigeria, which would enable the apex bank to execute its job properly. The minister of finance coming out to say that she was not consulted as alleged is uncalled for because a permanent secretary from the ministry of finance should be in the board, who is also a representative of the ministry of finance, unless the minister of finance wants the Central Bank governor to personally inform her, which is not necessary because a representative from the finance ministry was present at the meeting as alleged. Therefore, the Central Bank governor has not derailed in any way, and if the minister of finance wants the Central Bank governor to consult her personally before taking a decision, then she got it all wrong. Such a function is solely that of the Central Bank of Nigeria and not the finance ministry.
