It is surprising most times to see how leaders in Nigeria who were voted by people of their states to lead them and create infrastructures for their various states would turn around and start stealing the money meant to develop their states. The sad aspect of it all is that they will steal almost all the money, leaving the people of their states in abject poverty. Recently, Viewers Corner News correspondent in Abuja (Nigeria) informed us how ex-governor Theodore Orji of Abia state (Nigeria) was interrogated by Economic and Financial Crimes Commission Of Nigeria (EFCC) over an alleged fraud of over 27 billion Naira state money which he may have stolen while in office as governor. In our (Viewers Corner News team) opinion, such alleged huge sum of money (27 billion Naira) or even more might have been stolen by ex-governor Theodore Orji of Abia state. Again, as at the time this alleged 27 billion Naira was removed from Abia state (Nigeria) treasury, what would be the faith of the state and her people? Sometime ago during our (Viewers Corner News team) working visit to Abia state (Nigeria), what we (Viewers Corner News team) saw was not encouraging at all. Meaning that the leaders both past and present elected to office to work for the betterment of Abia state people engaged themselves in massive looting of state funds. Abia state (Nigeria) is a small state which receives reasonable amount of money on monthly basis as federal allocation, also the internal generated revenues from Abia state is there which should have made the state a great one but the past leaders of Abia state (Nigeria) worked for their pockets only, even the present governor of Abia state is still doing the same thing. However, now that Economic and Financial Crimes Commission of Nigeria (EFCC) has successfully brought ex-governor Orji Uzo Kalu to book, let us wait and see how his (ex-governor Theodore Orji) case would go. If the alleged 27 billion Naira fraud is established and he is found guilty, he may be put away for a long time which would also serve as a lesson to all the leaders in Nigeria, that it is not going to be business as usual where governance would be done without accountability.
