UNITED STATES BLACKLISTED EIGHT CHINESE TECHNOLOGY COMPANIES, ACCUSING THEM OF HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS.

The United States has placed eight Chinese technology companies on a blacklist, accusing them of violating human rights against Muslim minorities in the China’s far-western region of Xinjiang. The companies blacklisted are Hangzhou Hikvision Digital Technology Co., Zhejiang Dahua Technology Co., SenseTime Group Ltd, iFlytek, Megvii, Yitu Technologies, Xiamen Meiya Pico Information Co. Ltd and Shanghai-based Yixin Science and Technology. These companies are not allowed to do business with American companies without being granted license by US government. In a federal register notice published on Monday, 7 October by U.S Commerce Department, it stated that these companies are involved in human rights violations and abuses in the implementation of China’s campaign of repression, mass arbitrary detention, and high-technology surveillance against Uighurs, Kazakhs, and other members of Muslim minority groups in Xinjiang.
