MOHAMED MORSI, EGYPT’S FORMER PRESIDENT DIES AFTER COURT TRIAL ON MONDAY, 17 JUNE. AGED 67.

Viewers Corner News correspondent learned that Mohamed Morsi, Egypt’s first democratically elected president who was ousted by the military in July 2013 has died after appearing in court in Cairo on Monday. According to the report, the 67-year-old ex-President Mohamed Morsi fainted during court session, he was rushed to the hospital where he died later. Mohamed Morsi who had diabetes, liver and kidney disease was denied medical treatment. He was allegedly kept in solitary confinement for 23 hours a day. Mohamed Morsi was elected Egypt’s president in 2012, a year after the Arab Spring uprising saw the end of President Hosni Mubarak’s 30-year rule. He was ousted in July 2013 by a military coup led by the country’s current President (Abdel Fattah el-Sisi) after serving one year of a four-year term. Since then, he had been in custody and throughout his imprisonment, Morsi was only allowed three visits from his family (in November 2013, June 2017 and September 2018).
