It was reported that the Malaysia royal families will meet on 24 January 2019 in order to elect a new king after Sultan Muhammad V abdicated his throne. The meeting was announced by Syed Danial Syed Ahmad (Keeper of the Ruler’s Seal). His resignation from the throne is the first abdication in the history of Malaysia. Though no reason was given for his abdication but rumours had it that he resigned from the throne because he allegedly married a 25-year-old former Russian beauty queen last year November in Moscow while on medical leave.
