John Skipper (61 years) was on Monday, December 18, 2017 resigned from his position as ESPN president and co-chairman of the Disney Media Networks. In his statement, Skipper said that he has been struggling for many years with a substance addiction and have decided to take care of his problem. John Skipper joined ESPN in 1997 as senior vice president and general manager of ESPN (the Magazine). He became the president of ESPN and co-chairman of the Disney Media Networks on January 1, 2012. George Bodenheimer (59 years) who was ESPN’s president from 1998 to 2011 and its executive chairman until May 2014 will take over as the company’s acting chairman for the next 90 days for Bob Iger (Disney chairman and chief executive officer) to find John Skipper’s replacement.
