BELGIUM HAS AGREED TO TAKE IN LAURENT GBAGBO (FORMER PRESIDENT OF IVORY COAST) PENDING ANY POSSIBLE APPEAL TO HIS ACQUITTAL.

Our (Viewers Corner News) correspondent in Brussels learned that Belgium has agreed to take in Laurent Gbagbo (former Ivory Coast President). This was in line with the request made by the International Criminal Court pending a possible appeal against his acquittal by the International Criminal Court in the Hague on charges of crimes against humanity.
Former President Laurent Gbagbo who had been held in the Netherlands since 2011 was accused of crimes against humanity (he allegedly played a role in murder, rape, persecution, and other inhumane acts during the post-election violence in his country) and on 15 January 2019, the international criminal court in Hague acquitted him (Laurent Gbagbo) and his aide, Charles Ble Goude on the charges. It was also alleged that over 3,000 people were killed during the conflict in Ivory Coast when former president Laurent Gbagbo refused to concede defeat to Alassane Ouattara (the current president of Ivory Coast).
