Viewers Corner News correspondent learned that about 18 people (7 Kurdish fighters and 11 Syrian military) have lost their lives in clashes which started on Saturday between the Kurdish fighters and Syrian army at Qamishli in northeastern Syria. According to the report, the fighting started when the Syrian army entered areas in the city of Qamishli (near the Turkish border) and made some arrest which the Kurdish YPG militia’s internal security forces (Asayish) said the areas were under their control.
Since 2011 the Syrian civil war started, the YPG militia is in control of the Kurdish-populated cities and President Bashar al Assad’s government is mainly focusing its fight on Sunni rebel factions which is seeking to topple his rule. The U.S.-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) spearheaded by the Kurdish YPG militia controls most areas in Qamishli and their control spreads across northern and eastern Syria which are rich in farmland, oil and water.
